John will discuss the importance of public infrastructure investment to stimulate economic growth including what lies ahead for the Gold Coast Light Rail and the potential for it to come to Tweed.
He will talk about the future of the Gold Coast &Tweed, and how we can collaborate to maximise opportunities for business growth, prosperity and well-being within our border community, and offer his perspectives on the role of business chambers in the COVID recovery era.
John is presently Chairman of MinterEllison Gold Coast and of GoldlinQ Ltd – operator of theGold Coast Light Rail system. His previous roles include Chairman of the Nexus Infrastructure Consortium, Director of Plenary Schools and Director of the Commonwealth Games Authority delivering the 2018 Commonwealth Games (GOLDOC).
Other former roles include: Director of Seaworld Ltd, Chairman of the Indy 300 Event Advisory Board, member of Queensland’s Liquor Appeals Tribunal, Chairman of the Combined Chamber of Commerce (Gold Coast), Chairman of the Gold Coast Economic Development Board and founding Chairman of the Gold Coast Suns.
He has also been named Gold Coast Citizen of the Year, was awarded the Keys to the City of the Gold Coast and was recently appointed a Member of the Order of Australia recognising his years of service to Law, Business, and Sport.
